Mounting RaceCloud EGT Probe
Drill the exhaust
Choose location on top of the exhaust near the engine to mount the probe. Follow the CIK-FIA Technical Regulations. The image on the left is excerpt from CIK-FIA Technical Drawing 23.
Drill a 12mm hole (0.5 inch) in the exhaust at the chosen location.
Weld the compression fitting
Weld the lower part of the compression fitting in the hole of the exhaust.
Be careful not to damage the thread and not to leave holes for hot gasses to escape.
Assemble the probe
Assemble the probe and the rest of the compression fitting.
Set probe tip depth to the center of the manifold.
Angle the probe so the cable goes behind the driver's seat without it touching the exhaust pipe.
Screw in place the fitting without overtighting it - about 1/4 turn past finger tight is adequate. Overtitghting of the compression fitting can damage the probe.
Use a high temperature anti-seize compound on all threads.
Plug the EGT/CHT K-Type Adaptor in one of the universal ports of the BOX.
Route the thermcouple cable from the box on the left of the seat (away from the engine) to the entine and plug the probe.
Avoid touching the thermocouple cable to the RPM pickup cable.
Make sure the cable is not loose or with very tight bends. If you fix it with cable ties be careful not to break the cable by fastening them too tight.
Use a cable tie to fix the connection between the yellow plugs, routed trough their holes.
Setup the Bundle
Power up the bundle and go to Settings. From the Temperature Sensors menu select Water+EGT. If the menu isn't there plug the connect module/antenna, wait for connection to the cloud and a Software Update Available screen will pop up. Follow the on-screen instructions and after installing check again.
Verify in the System Info menu that the electronics are detected and working - the EGT line should say Connected.
On the Bundle's Dashboard you should see the temperature displayed in the lower right corner.
In the iOS application Live screen you can tap the Engine Temperature and RPM gauges to toggle between them and the live EGT reading.
